Key factors that contribute to an Ice machine not operating as designed:
Ambient air temp/water temps
- The lack of airflow around an Icemachine will cause higher head pressures and thus creating longer freeze cycle times and other issues. High water inlet temps cause longer freeze times as well and if its a water cooled machine will cause higher head pressures.
Water Quality
- We all know that in Oklahoma the water quality is poor. Our hard water is known to deposit minerals on the inside components and water lines of your machine. This causes some of the components in your machine to work harder to produce less ice.
Installation issue
- If the unit was not installed correctly by a trained professional there maybe drain issues, water pressure issues and voltage problems.
Lack of Planned Maintenance
- Over 70 percent of the Ice machine we have serviced and repaired were from the lack of the unit being cleaned and sanitized properly.
Ice Machine Planned Maintenance Program
Here in Oklahoma we recommend Ice machines to be cleaned and sanitized at least every 6months, in some cases we recommend every 3months. With our Planned Maintenance Program we follow the manufacturer’s instructions to thoroughly clean and sanitize your machine. We even clean and sanitize your ice bin and or dispenser that most people leave out. To clean most ice machines correctly it takes around 3 hrs. We also will replace your water filters if needed. Filters should be changed every 6 months to every year depending on usage and water quality. With having a properly executed planned maintenance on your ice machine it will limit equipment down time, ice clarity will be improved, and ice production will be maximized.
